In most parts of this country, 30 million dollars will get you a lot of mansion.
But in the case of one new-to-market L.A. property, it won’t even get you past the garage.
Because developer Bruce Makowsky’s fully loaded $250m mansion houses an estimated $30m worth of classic cars, a dozen or swooped-up motorcycles and at least one deactivated helicopter.
The fashion and cable television conquistador set out to develop a billionaire-ready home with every amenity conceivable. Tucked into the 38,000-square-foot interior are 12 bedrooms, 21 baths, a 40-seat home theater and a four-lane bowling alley. Beyond the commonalities, though, there are eyeroll-inducing conversation pieces galore, including a Champagne pinball machine, onyx sculpture of an Hermès Birkin handbag, glass-encased cashmere Hermès Equateur blanket, blown-up images of Brad Pitt, Jack Nicholson and Angelina Jolie, and a polished stainless steel Leica camera sculpture.
Come to the cars though, we’ll give credit where credit is due. There are from what we can tell 12 cars and 10 motorcycles in toto, including a $15m “Von Krieger” 1936 Mercedes 540 K Special Roadster, $2m Pagani Huayra, Ferrari 488, Rolls-Royce Dawn, Morgan three-wheeler, Spyker C8, Ariel Atom, Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley Continental GT convertible, Bugatti Veyron and, perhaps, an Allard J2X. In the moto department, there’s at least one Ducati and a Sora electric superbike. And there are rumors about a baby Formula 1 car and mini Sea-Doos. Neither or which would come as a surprise.
The fleet, foosball tables, chainsaw and Champagne aside, it feels more like a Vegas hotel than a thoughtfully curated space.
“I understand how rich people want to live, because I’m very wealthy,” Makowsky said to Bloomberg. “The right person is going to walk into this house and lose their mind.”
