During an exhibition at next month’s PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Tiger Woods will hit the links with a new partner: his son.
Woods and his 11-year-old son Charlie will play alongside 19 other major championship-winning golfers who are paired up with a family member in a 36-hold event that was formerly known as the Father-Son Challenge.
The two-day competition will be broadcast across NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock but fans will not be permitted to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be playing with Charlie in our first official tournament together,” Woods, 44, said. “It’s been great watching him progress as a junior golfer, and it will be incredible playing as a team together in the PNC Championship.”
In August, the younger Woods shot a three-under 33 to win a U.S. Kids Golf event, according to Golf Digest.
“He’s starting to get into it,” Woods told the publication in July. “He’s starting to understand how to play. He’s asking me the right questions. I’ve kept it competitive with his par, and so it’s been just an absolute blast to go out there and be there with him.”
After winning The Masters last April, Woods was out of contention during the round of this year’s edition of the annual tournament but was still gracious to winner Dustin Johnson in defeat.
Though he will play at the PNC, Woods is not expected to play in a competitive tournament again until 2021.
