For a rental car company, Hertz has actually managed to achieve a certain level of cool. Last summer, it debuted a line of electric Fiat Jollys you could rent in Italy, and then a couple months later it released some 2020 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s Stateside in partnership with NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports. But the most significant release was in 2018, when it commissioned 100 custom Z06 Corvettes for the company’s 100th anniversary.

The bad news? The coronavirus crisis has hit the rental car market as well, and Hertz is grappling with a potential bankruptcy. The good news? For those with some cash stored away for a rainy day, Hertz is offloading some of its custom cars for bargain prices, including a couple of the ZL1 Camaros and a fleet of those centennial Z06 Corvettes in the brand’s signature yellow and black.

If you pick up one of these, will you be at risk of jokes about driving the Transformer Bumblebee? Potentially. Will you also be getting an absolute steal when it comes to horsepower per dollar? Absolutely.

“The base model C7 was already pretty capable but the Z06 cranked out 650 HP under the hood and a slew of other performance upgrades, allowing the Z06 to chase down high-dollar exotics for a much lower price,” wrote Jalopnik. “The 2019 Z06 had a starting price of around $81,000 with fully loaded 3LZ equipped models pushing around $95,000.”

So what is Hertz asking for its ‘Vettes? Prices vary, but at the time of writing, you can pick up a Corvette Z06 3LZ Coupe with about 34K miles for a little over $57K. As for the Camaro, that’ll set you back at least $77K, but with only a few thousand miles on the odometer.
