One of the NFL’s most controversial players is now also one of football’s highest-paid receivers.
In a move which was a long time coming once the NFL ruled he could return to the field, Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs have agreed to a three-year, $54 million extension. First reported by ProFootballTalk, Hill’s deal includes $35 million guaranteed.
With an average value of $18 million per year, Hill is now tied with Odell Beckham as the second-highest paid receiver in football. Michael Thomas of the New Orleans Saints is still pro football’s highest-paid pass-catcher.
That makes sense as, unlike Hill, Thomas has never been accused of abusing a small child or been investigated by both the NFL and the police as the Kansas City star was this offseason. Throughout the investigation into his activities, Hill maintained his innocence.
“After an up-and-down offseason, KC and Hill make it clear they are sticking together,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport said of the deal.

He’s been a lightning rod off the field, but there’s no denying Hill is a gamebreaker on the gridiron.
In three NFL seasons, Hill has 223 catches for 3,255 yards and 25 touchdowns (14.6 yards per catch) and led the league with 15 yards per touch last year.
The three-time Pro Bowler also five kick returns for touchdowns and is averaging 12 yards per punt return in his career.
