Confidences will be betrayed, swords will clash, blood will flow … and Game of Thrones isn’t even involved.
In honor of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, Kronborg Castle in Denmark (aka “Elsinore,” aka the actual castle Hamlet is set in) will host a summer-long immersive theater party attended by six of the characters from the Bard’s beloved tragedy.
During Hamlet Live, Ophelia, Claudius, Gertrude, Polonius, Yorrick and the eponymous Danish prince will live in the renaissance palace and tell an abridged version of the play through a series of scenes and interactions that will be going on throughout the halls and chambers of the castle.
In addition to watching the action, guests will become part of the party from time to time as the characters reach out to them for advice or guidance. During the interactive performance, the actors will use language that bridges the gap between Shakespeare’s original dialogue and “easily understandable English.”

“We want to reach out to both the Danish families and foreign tourists with the amazing story of Hamlet — regardless of age, nationality or language barriers,” says Kronborg Castle manager Erik Als.
The event run from June 1st to August 31st and day passes start at $20.
It’ll be nice to have something rotten in the state of Denmark again.
