Cons of fishing the Bering Sea off Dutch Harbor: freezing temperatures and daily brushes with death.
Pros: every month is no-shave November and, as of today, one of America’s best heritage makers does a robust dive watch in your honor.
Best known for being the main delivery port on Discovery’s Deadliest Catch, Dutch Harbor is now also the name of the second watch collection from Filson.
Given the harbor’s rep, Filson’s choice of name makes a lot of sense. “The Dutch Harbor Watch Collection brings functionality and dependability to places where time is a matter of life and death,” says the watchmaker.
All 10 pieces in the diving watch collection feature a uni-directional rotating top ring, a sapphire crystal face with anti-reflective coating and water resistance up to 990 feet.
The watches are available with a leather, nylon, rubber or stainless steel band and start at $750, or about the cost of 27 pounds of king crab.
