No matter which one of them wins in the Western Conference Finals, Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Trail Blazers guard Seth Curry will be making playoff history.
When the Currys face off in a series with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line, they will be the first brothers ever to meet in the conference finals. They will also be the first brothers to play against each other in any round of the NBA playoffs since Marc Gasol (Grizzlies) and Pau Gasol (Spurs) squared off in the first round of the 2017 postseason.
Overall, the brothers have played against each other in the NBA nine times. Steph is 7-2, but, both the losses to Seth have come this year to the Blazers.
“It’s going to be so much fun,” Sonya Curry, their mom, told ESPN. “It is. From our end, to see both of our sons to compete at this level and for the goal to be a championship is such a blessing. We never could imagine this. One of them might go home. But we’re going to the championship.”
To decide which one of the Curry parents will support which son on a given night, Sonya and her husband Dell, who also played in the NBA, will be flipping a coin.
The Blazers and Warriors will start their series on Tuesday in Oakland.
