As part of a series of consciousness-raising mass die-ins staged around the world this weekend, activists used the Dippy the dinosaur exhibit currently on view at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, Scotland to drive home the point about the human race’s risk of going extinct, The Guardian reports.
Some 300 participants gathered beneath the copy of the skeleton of the doomed diplodocus at the event organized by Wee Rebellion, Glasgow-based climate-change protesters for young people associated with die-in organizers Extinction Rebellion. Many people, the Guardian reports, held signs asking “Are we next?”
The environmental statement made beneath Dippy was echoed at protests held on Saturday at transport hubs, cultural institutions and shopping centers in France, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Italy, The Netherlands, the UK and other countries.
