The city of Chicago will experience one of its coldest days ever recorded this week when temperatures on Wednesday are expected to dip below that of the globe’s most frigid destinations.
The low for Chi-Town is expected to hit 20 degrees below zero — diping beneath the frigid temperatures found in Siberia, Antarctica and at the peaks of Mount Everest this week, The Hill reported.

The high on Wednesday will top out at 12 degrees below; the coldest high temperature ever recorded in the city.
To compare, the high at the South Pole on Wednesday will be about 4 below and Barrow, Alaska, which sits north of the Arctic Circle, is expected to see a high of 7 below.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker warned of a “potentially historic winter storm that will bring extreme cold to our state” on Wednesday.
