This spring two adventurers are going to attempt to climb Mount Everest using a new path, Adventure Blog reports.
The climbers, Esteban Mena and Cory Richards will make their way up the north side of Everest located in Tibet. They will attempt the same route fellow climbers Raphael Slawinski, David Goettler, and Daniel Bartsch were meant to take before an earthquake brought the 2015 climbing season to a close.
The duo will document their climb for a new original series for Roam Media– the trailer is below:
Both mountaineers have made summits on several of the highest mountains and, once above base camp, won’t be using any oxygen or life support while they trek up the new route.
Recently, China closed one of the base camps at Mount Everest due to human waste and garbage left behind by tourists.
Mena and Richards will make the climb “alpine style” which means they’ll carry everything they need to survive – food, clothing, shelter – as opposed to stopping at established camps set up along the climbing route.
