Sometimes players are so good they have to create new statistics in order to quantify their talent. Such was the case with Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk, who recently left the National Hockey League to play in Russia. Datsyuk pioneered the takeaway, even before the NHL began tracking the stat in 2006. In his 14 years with the Red Wings, he helped Detroit win the Stanley Cup twice. In the 11,100 career games Datsyuk played in, he scored 356 goals and made 675 assists. And all this, after going undrafted in 1996 and 1997. In honor of the “Magic Man,” join the NHL Network’s Jon Morosi as he takes you through the highlights of Datsyuk’s career.
