A View From a Motorcycle Racing at 200 MPH

January 7, 2017 5:00 am

The Isle of Man is a tiny island found between Ireland and England. And for fans of motorcycles operating at ridiculously high speeds, it is heaven. That’s because the Isle is home to the annual Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Races. This series sees bikers battle it out at speeds of up to 200 mph. This year the TT will be held from May 27 to June 9. (We’re giving you some advance notice to make travel reservations.)

But why tell you about it when you can watch? Below, see a past race and appreciate what it’s like to speed a bike at 200 mph through the quaint, winding roads of the isle. (Yes, the bikers do come unnervingly near the ground with each turn.) The race has been held annually since 1907, with each year the speeds getting a little more extreme.

Maybe you still don’t fully appreciate what it’s like to travel on a motorcycle at 200 mph. Watch this bottom video to see how a biker hurtling along at those insane speeds handles a dog suddenly running onto the road.
