After being wrong on the mound for nearly all of his postseason career, David Price was finally right.
Price hurled six shutout innings on Thursday night at Minute Maid Park to help the Red Sox get past the defending champion Houston Astros 4-1 in Game 5 of the AL Championship Series.
The win completed a three-game sweep by the BoSox in Houston and earned them their first World Series berth since they won the title in 2013.
For Price, who entered at 0-9 with a 6.16 ERA in 11 career postseason starts, earning his first victory in the playoffs was huge and he did it in dominant fashion by striking out nine while scattering three hits.
“We got four more wins. That was very, very special, absolutely. But we want more,” Price said.

The Red Sox offense helped their 33-year-old ace with a pair of homers, the first a solo shot by JD Martinez and the second a three-run bomb off the bat of Rafael Devers to put the Sox ahead 4-0.

The Red Sox will face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or Milwaukee Brewers when the World Series begins on Tuesday night at Fenway Park in Boston.
Los Angeles has a 3-2 lead in the NLCS going into Game 6 on Friday night at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
