An upstate couple who was so fed up with their 30-year-old son living at home that they sued to evict him have won their case. Mark and Christina Rotondo claim that they gave their son Michael Rotondo multiple opportunities to move out, including paying for his moving expenses and sending him legal notices demanding that the grow up and move out, according to The New York Post.
One legal note reads, “Michael, After a discussion with your Mother, we have decided that you must leave this house immediately. You have 14 days to vacate. . . We will take whatever actions are necessary to enforce this decision.”
The couple says they offered him $1,100 for a “place to stay,” gave him advice, and urged him to find a job. But Michael did not leave. However, a judged ruled on Tuesday that he will have to in 30 days.
Michael, who is a self-described businessman and has a son of his own who he lost custody over, told The Post that the situation is “really unfair” and that he’s “been trying to leave there for a long time.” He claims his family “stopped feeding me, they cut me off the family phone plan.” He says he has a job and income and does not have plans to live at home forever, however, he thinks being forced to move in a month is unfair.
