Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes.
And if his shoes are from Capita, a new brand of premium leather footwear from Uruguay, leave them on and never come back.
Sucker.
Capita’s initial line of boots and dress shoes is beautiful, highly functional and inspired by “men with purpose.”
Other inspirations, according to the maker? Bourbon. And Metallica.
Started a few years ago by designer Sofia Gruss, Capita crafts high-quality shoes from Uruguayan cattle leather tanned via environmentally friendly processes. With their site now launched in the U.S., you can access an array of extremely limited-edition boots with distinct colorways and silhouettes, all made by hand in Uruguay (2013’s Country of the Year).
These are classic men’s styles with some cool, left-of-center flourishes.
A few pairs we like:
Rebel
Distinct. The unique “worn-out” mossy olive color here, developed by a small tannery, is what truly sets this boot apart.
Master James
Your rock-star look. Named after Metallica’s James Hetfield, these boots are crafted with sandy beige leather, then manually painted in black and finished with an abrasive brush polish.
Urbano Jack Oak
Full-grain leather boots with a special coal burn on the toe and heel, inspired by the charring of a bourbon barrel.
Plus, a series of calfskin leather Oxfords, dressy slip-ons and the Lavale Beach, a relaxed, no-lining leather gaucho boot that, unfortunately, won’t come back in stock until August.
Don’t loiter, though. We suggest ordering what you like now, as each style has a production run as short as 12-14 pairs.
